I hope this missive finds you all ready to enjoy the holidays with your friends and family. The marina and our offices will be closed from Monday, the 24th through Tuesday, January 1st. If you have something urgent come up during that period, please leave me a voicemail and I will receive it on my cell phone.
We will hold our annual Shareholder Forum at the Lakewood Center the third week of January. Once we have secured the date we will send out an additional email. This is a chance to discuss our plans for 2019 as well as to answer your questions and hear your comments. Face to face is my favorite form of communication.
Well it certainly has been a strange fall weather wise. In the 12 years I have been here, we have never had to open the head gate in November to maintain lake level until this year. On top of that, the Tualatin was so low that we were still below the full range of 98.6’ until we got into more steady rain in December. We like to avoid bringing water in this time of year because of the extremely high phosphorous levels (Clean Water Services suspend their tertiary alum treatment for effluent in October).
Some of you may have recently received a notice from Clackamas County about changes to the FEMA flood maps and changes to regulations for developing in the flood plain. This was an overdistribution on their part. The map changes do not affect the lake, and the City of Lake Oswego is the regulatory body for development in the flood plain, not Clackamas County. I am happy to help anytime you have questions about such matters. If I don’t have the answers, I probably know who to ask.
We have finally begun to move into the nearly complete marina building. We are still awaiting cabinet install which begins next week. We will arrange a time in January or February for an open house so that you can stop by for a tour.
From all of us here at the Lake Oswego Corporation, Happy Holidays and we will see you in the new year!
