Meet Our Board
Larry Thompson - PresidentPresident
Myself, my wife and two children absolutely love this community. We have called Lake Oswego our home for 14 years where I own an insurance insurance agency specializing in community associations, commercial and personal insurance. I am a retired army officer, an avid do-it-yourselfer and I enjoy participating in the kids school and sporting events. With my skill set in risk management, communication and decision making I believe I would serve the Lake Oswego Corporation well in helping preserve and better our community.
Justin Harnish - Vice PresidentVice President
I am a third generation Oregonian and Lake Oswego resident. I was raised on the Lake and am proud to be raising my own family here. After graduating from the University of San Diego, I eventually made my way back home and became an owner/partner in Harnish Properties, specializing in Lake Oswego residential real estate. Passionate about our Lake and community, I have served on the Lake Oswego Schools Foundation Board for the past 4 years. I have enjoyed the past few months as an interim appointment and look forward to continuing my service to the community.
Rick Johnson - TreasurerTreasurer
Our family has lived in Lake Oswego since 1994, and we enjoyed the Lake Grove swim park until we moved to the Lake in 2007. We have 3 boys who have grown up in this community, with the youngest a senior in high school. As an Interim Board Member the last few months, I have been struck by how much work is involved in keeping the Lake in the condition that we enjoy, but so easily take for granted. I hope to work with other Board members and the LOC staff to preserve the quality of life we all value. With a degree in Geology, an MBA in Finance, and having started a company, I will be an effective Board member.
Todd Hennelly - SecretarySecretary
Serving on your LOC board has been an honor and privilege. I look forward to continuing being a part of the LOC with its long and proud legacy. I enjoy working for shareholders by helping the LOC meet its complex current and future needs. I am a small business owner and bring my 30-years of risk management and commercial insurance background to the board. Like many others we made Lake Oswego home when my oldest began school and then fell in love with the community. I look forward to working with the other board members in creating a safe and enjoyable lake environment for all its users while being a good steward of the lake's ecosystems and community.
Katie Brown TroftgrubenDirector at Large
After living in Lake Oswego for a decade, my family and I moved to the canal three years ago and treasure the glistening lake that serves as the centerpiece of our community. I am excited about the opportunity to serve as a board member and bring a mix of media and business experience to the role. Following a 20-year career in broadcasting – including 15 years locally at KATU-TV – I am currently a Brand Director at Evanta, a Gartner Company. I look forward to bringing my collaborative mindset to the Board as we work together in the best interest of our beautiful lake.
Jeff EdelsonDirector at Large
Jeff Edelson and his wife Jennifer have been on West Bay since 2010. Jeff is a partner at the Portland law firm of Markowitz Herbold PC, where he has practiced for over 25 years. Jennifer is a full time English and Math teacher at Madison High School, and part-time fitness instructor at Reed College. Jeff was voted onto the Lake Oswego Corporation Board to fill an early vacancy in 2016, and is running for reelection in 2017. His years of legal experience in litigation, client counselling, arbitration, mediation and business advice give the Board a pragmatic but deliberative voice. Jeff’s willingness to ask the tough questions in a collaborative and respectful framework adds an important dynamic to the Board.
Amy GaddisDirector at Large
My husband Byron and I moved onto the lake in 2014 – we’d never been on it in 19 years of living in Lake Oswego. We enjoy cruising in our “classic” wood Chris Craft, exploring on our paddleboards, and swimming off our dock. With my background in chemistry, and engineering, I’m very interested in the overall lake ecosystem and am impressed with the water quality work that is being done. I would like the opportunity to be involved in future lake projects that maintain and improve water quality and the quality of life on the lake.
Grant HansonDirector at Large
My family and I are active users of the lake - boating, paddle boarding and kayaking several days a week. As lakefront residents, we witness the daily caretaking of the lake by the Lake Corp staff - the responsive and courteous Lake Patrol, the conscientious water quality maintenance team and the friendly crew at the Lake Corp office. The Lake Corp Board and professional staff are charged with maintaining and improving our lake while protecting its value and quality for shareholders and easement members alike. These are responsibilities about which I feel strongly. I am confident that my expertise in strategic planning, problem solving and budgetary oversight developed over my 35+ years at Nike will be an asset to the board. I look forward to working with other community members to continue the tradition of effective and committed oversight of our lake.
Ward HubbellDirector at Large
Oswego Lake is what makes our community so special and I am proud to serve on a board that is committed to preserving and protecting it. The Lake has many values and uses for our shareholders and easement members, and I believe it is important to recognize and honor those. I will continue to use my background in communications and public policy to help ensure that the Lake remains a treasure for generations to come.
Stuart SmithDirector at Large
My family and I have been fortunate to call Oswego Lake home since 2004. For the last year I have served as a member of the LOC development committee, which has given me an inside look into some of the challenges that we face. I have served on numerous boards over the years and pride myself in bringing a respectful and pragmatic approach to finding solutions. I would be honored to apply my legal and financial background to enhancing the lake experience for all of us as a member of the LOC Board.
Scott WittenbergDirector at Large
A native Oregonian who grew up in the Willamette Valley, Scott has lived on the main lake since 2009. In 1995 Mr. Wittenberg founded Synapse Global Corporation, an international telecommunications service provider, and serves as the company's CEO. Scott's experience in the technology industry and dealing with industry regulators in over 70 countries provides him with a unique perspective on working with others and using technology to solve complex issues. Scott recently had a 400-foot tram installed to make the lake more easily and quickly accessible from their home on Southshore Blvd. In his free time he enjoys scuba diving in tropical and sometimes remote places.
Doug WoodcockDirector at Large
Doug and Charlotte raised their family in the same house on Lake Oswego for the past 25 years. The original appeal of living on the lake, watersports, the natural beauty of the lake and the community of lake residents holds as much appeal for the Woodcock family now as it in 1993. As a long-time resident and avid lake user, I understand the critical importance of issues like water quality, boater safety and access. I am a passionate advocate for the lake and would be thrilled at the opportunity to serve on the LOC Board of Directors.
