Meet Our Board
Jay Hamachek - PresidentPresident
Serving on the Board has been has been a great honor. My experience with Oswego Lake has been ongoing since I was child growing up around the lake. Raising my family on the lake has taught me the importance of giving back to our lake and our community. Today I bring my international business experience in environmental sustainability management, government affairs/lobbying, legal affairs and project management to LOC. My goal is to ensure our lake remains a great place to raise a family.
Stuart Smith - Vice PresidentVice President
My family and I have been fortunate to call Oswego Lake home since 2004. For the last year I have served as a member of the LOC development committee, which has given me an inside look into some of the challenges that we face. I have served on numerous boards over the years and pride myself in bringing a respectful and pragmatic approach to finding solutions. I would be honored to apply my legal and financial background to enhancing the lake experience for all of us as a member of the LOC Board.

Serving on your LOC board has been an honor and privilege. I look forward to continuing being a part of the LOC with its long and proud legacy. I enjoy working for shareholders by helping the LOC meet its complex current and future needs. I am a small business owner and bring my 30-years of risk management and commercial insurance background to the board. Like many others we made Lake Oswego home when my oldest began school and then fell in love with the community. I look forward to working with the other board members in creating a safe and enjoyable lake environment for all its users while being a good steward of the lake's ecosystems and community.

Myself, my wife and two children absolutely love this community. We have called Lake Oswego our home for 14 years where I own an insurance insurance agency specializing in community associations, commercial and personal insurance. I am a retired army officer, an avid do-it-yourselfer and I enjoy participating in the kids school and sporting events. With my skill set in risk management, communication and decision making I believe I would serve the Lake Oswego Corporation well in helping preserve and better our community.

I bring my strong business experience to the board and will strive to ensure the lake remains a safe, clean and sustainable treasure for future generations to enjoy.

I am a third generation Oregonian and Lake Oswego resident. I was raised on the Lake and am proud to be raising my own family here. After graduating from the University of San Diego, I eventually made my way back home and became an owner/partner in Harnish Properties, specializing in Lake Oswego residential real estate. Passionate about our Lake and community, I have served on the Lake Oswego Schools Foundation Board for the past 4 years. I have enjoyed the past few months as an interim appointment and look forward to continuing my service to the community.

Oswego Lake is what makes our community so special and I am proud to serve on a board that is committed to preserving and protecting it. The Lake has many values and uses for our shareholders and easement members, and I believe it is important to recognize and honor those. I will continue to use my background in communications and public policy to help ensure that the Lake remains a treasure for generations to come.

Our family has lived in Lake Oswego since 1994, and we enjoyed the Lake Grove swim park until we moved to the Lake in 2007. We have 3 boys who have grown up in this community, with the youngest a senior in high school. As an Interim Board Member the last few months, I have been struck by how much work is involved in keeping the Lake in the condition that we enjoy, but so easily take for granted. I hope to work with other Board members and the LOC staff to preserve the quality of life we all value. With a degree in Geology, an MBA in Finance, and having started a company, I will be an effective Board member.

Spending nearly 30 years as a reporter taught me the value of being a good listener. Many of us have different perceptions of our lake, its management, and visions for its future. I hope by communicating effectively with you we’ll be successful at making our lake community even better. I’ve lived in Lake Oswego for 25 years, 15 of those on the lake. Marrying into a family that built a house on the lake in the 1930's has given me a historical perspective I treasure.

It would be a great privilege to continue to serve our LOC board for my final three year term. My wife and I both grew up in this community and both attended our community schools. I was raised on the lake and enjoyed raising my family on the lake as well. Now empty nesters, we are finding new experiences to enjoy this lake all over again. It is truly magical! Over the years we have seen many improvements to the lake but the lake experience is always continuing to change. We must keep adapting to new challenges and opportunities. As I continue on with this Board I offer my historical perspective to stay open minded and passionate towards the solution and our future. Lake Oswego is one of the best residential lakes in the country and a true gem to our community. It is a lake I am very proud to be a part of.
